Today His Spirit Moved On..Free To Run The Universe
My best friend was the four legged kind. He was a purebred siberian husky. We became inseperable in September 1993. His name was Bob.
When I first brought Bob home as a 6 week old puppy, I had an older female dog called "baby" at home. She became his mom and the boss, altho she was smaller than he would ever be. He respected her and listened to her. It was quite comical to watch her tell him what to do!
Eventually, baby moved on to her rewards in the heavens and Bob missed her dearly.
He and I continued being together thru life, good and bad times. He was a constant by my side and helped me go on. We walked a lot, talked a lot and even howled together. There was nothing Bob didnt like as much as running in the snow, stopping to howl at times. I had him pulling small sleds for the first few years of his life which he loved to do.
He would of course get loose from the yard, and go on many runs! Then the game was on. It usually took me hours to find him and most times it was out in a field about five miles away or running beside a truck on the highway.
Bob started to slow down about a year ago. His hind legs and lower back became arthritic and he developed bone chips along the spine. He still had his "puppy" eyes and sunny disposition. He was a friendly, smart dog, who loved everyone, especially kids. He was known to howl bohemian rhapsody with queen and also go into anyones pockets who entered the house to find treats.
Poor Bob, it got to the point the past week that he could not get into the house as his back legs would not work anymore. But he never complained.
I made the decision to let him run free today and we made our way to the vet.
He left this world in peace, free of pain and will run forever.
His spirit lives on. I will never forget you my friend and will love you forever. Rest in peace and enjoy your freedom.
